Principal's Message

PRINCIPAL’S 2018 - 2019 MESSAGE

Dear Parents/Guardians, Students, and Staff:

As we begin the 2018 - 2019 school year, our Bright School mission and vision statements will again guide our practice.

MISSION:

Bright Elementary School strives to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of ALL students.  At Bright School, we strive to create a collaborative and inclusive learning environment, while developing innovative thinkers who understand the past, explore the present, and impact the future equipped with a wealth of knowledge and experiences.  We are committed to developing well rounded students prepared to compete and be successful in a global society.

VISION:

We envision Bright School to be a dynamic and inspiring learning environment that produces enthusiastic and self-directed learners who believe in, and trust in the power of education.

We remain focused on improving teaching and learning at Bright School. To that end, a Continuous Improvement Work Plan (CIWP) has been developed that will guide our work school years 2018 – 2020.  The five areas of focus during this time include the following:

  • Expectations for depth & breadth of Quality Teaching: Instruction
  • Expectations for depth & breadth of Student Learning: Rigorous Student Tasks
  • Expectations for depth & breadth of Quality Teaching: Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
  • Expectations for depth & breadth of Quality Teaching: Balanced Assessment & Grading

We will continue to monitor the educational programs at Bright while making instructrional practice more transparent through in-school walk-throughs, parent classroom observations, and parent nights focused on instruction.  We are asking parents, guardians, and community members to continue to work with us to educate our “college bound” Bright School students.  Additionally, we will continue to seek school partnerships that support and enhance our Mission/Vision and school wide offerings.

Teachers and other staff members will take a more active role this year to ensure student success.  Our goal is to “raise the bar!” Students and parents will be expected to do more to support student achievement at Bright School. We can’t do it alone.  It takes a village to educate a child.

The information attached to this letter is the Bright School Parent/Student Handbook.  Please review the information with your child and contact your child’s homeroom teacher with any questions. We look forward to a successful SY 2018 -2019. We need your support to “get it right at Bright.”

Respectfully,

Bright Administrative Team
